GIG - The Station Tavern, Huddersfield 5th Nov 04

Remember, remember the 5th of November - we certainly will!

So, a last minute venue change from the less than salubrious Elements Bar to the Station tavern didn't stop a good turn out.

Just the two band tonight. First up were Seven Acres - we played with these guys some time ago at Albrahams (RIP) and they have come on leaps and bounds - very impressive set and this time the managed not to spill beer into the Keyboard. They have a large following and dragged a decent crowd into the joint. Even if many of the were too young to get served at the bar.
Young teenage crowds are fun, but they spend half their time wandering in and out of the building have relationship crises and can't seem to settle down any watch the gig.
Anyhoo, Seven acres managed to real them in - good set!

So we took the stage at around 10:00 and blistered through an hours set. Very hot, very sweaty and very very loud. Scuzzy PA did a fine job as per usual and the addition of Nevs new Mesa and 6x10 and Ian new Marshall JCM2000 TSL both being gigged for the first time ensure a well meaty back line.

A lot of the younger audience spent their time pissing about outside, but those that stayed seemed to enjoy it and the legal drinkers emerged from their hiding places to fill the room. But like the pied pipers of rock we are, we managed to entice more punters in. Apparently you could hear us from McDonald's.
Made a lot of new fans today! Hello y'all.

We dropped a new song ' Swan Song' into the middle of the set to test it out and it received a positive reaction.

As always with Grinn, we had our share of trauma. This time it happened after the gig. So, Lee, Paddy and Nev (and Liz) headed off in convoy back to the Grinnstitution to off load the gear. Just a quick stop at the petrol station. Ooops Lee's Petrol cap lock is ceased. Paddy tries to force it with his own ignition key and end up bending it. So, with two vehicles out of action Nev takes Paddy home to grab a spare key - up shot no one gets home until 1:30 in the morning - and this is supposed to be a low stress home town gig ;-)
